We serve food to those in need on a monthly basis and donate a portion of annual proceeds to non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting the homeless in Boston. We also make on-going contributions to local organizations invested in our communities such as Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition and Roslindale Village Main Street.
Our most recent donation was made to the World Health Organization's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
The annual Javonee Cotton Scholarship for Comedic Excellence was founded in memory of Reece Cotton's late baby brother. 2018 Honorees received their scholarship through the Women In Comedy Festival. 2019 recipients received their scholarship through the Boston Comedy Chicks. 2020 honorees have already started receiving their scholarship through Comics Rising.
Out of 3 early acceptance applicants, one rising comedian was selected by our committee to make his NYC stand-up debut at Caroline's on Broadway. He did so at their New Face's Showcase on February 17, 2020.
The Comics Rising Stand-up Program was founded in the spirit of dedicating time and resources towards helping new aspiring comedians get started on their comedy journey. A former student who successfully completed the 2018 program recently reported making as much as one-hundred dollars per show.
In the fall of 2020, an online version of the course is scheduled to roll out for comedians in Boston and beyond.
